About
Dr. Sandip A. Shah is a distinguished name in the field of oncology, with a career spanning nearly four decades since beginning his practice in 1986. He currently serves as a Consultant Medical Oncologist and Hematologist, and is affiliated with the Gujarat Cancer & Research Institute (GCRI), Ahmedabad, where he holds the position of Associate Professor of Medical Oncology and heads the Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit.
In addition to his role at GCRI, Dr. Shah is associated with Rajasthan Hospital and Jivraj Hospital, and is on the medical panel of ONGC. He is a former President of the Association of Physicians of Ahmedabad, underlining his leadership in the medical community.
A pioneer in the field, Dr. Shah has been instrumental in establishing Bone Marrow Transplant Units at both GCRI and Sterling Hospital, Ahmedabad. Dr. Shah’s expertise, dedication, and pioneering efforts have significantly advanced the standards of cancer and hematological care in Gujarat and beyond. His clinical contributions over 700 transplants performed at GCRI, and more than 140 transplants conducted at Sterling Hospitals, covering both Autologous and Allogeneic procedures.
He is a former President of the Association of Physicians of Ahmedabad, demonstrating his leadership and active involvement in the broader medical community.

Dr. Shah received his specialized training in Hematology and Medical Oncology from premier institutions including GCRI, Tata Memorial Hospital, and KEM Hospital in Mumbai. He further honed his expertise in bone marrow transplantation at GCRI.

He has received ORATION AWARD from the Association of Physicians of Gujarat on ‘Haempoetic Stem Cell Transplantation in Gujarat’.
He has twice organized national conferences at GCRI - on bone marrow transplantation in February 2007 and 'PEDI-CON' on Pediatric Hemato-oncology in 2002, Hematology Update 2010 & 2012, and CME on Hematology 2014.
